The Ohio Fresh Hop Festival was created to bring together the finest craft breweries in Ohio and showcase their talents in the Ohio-grown, fresh hop beer category. Breweries from all over Ohio will be bringing their unique beers made with Ohio hops so you can try them!

Almost every beer made in the world uses dried hops, which are typically taken to a drying kiln, baled, and sent to a chilled warehouse after harvesting. However, fresh hops are never dried. When the moment of perfect ripeness arrives, Ohio hop farmers call breweries and tell them their hops are ready. Brewers fire up their mash tuns and dispatch a truck to get the beautiful green hop cones in the brew within hours of harvest. Each minute the hop is separated from the bine is crucial, so the closer the hop farm, the better.
